ICT : SECONDARY
ICT and D&T
Information & Communication Technology (ICT) has become enormously influential in many aspects of modern life. It is principally concerned with the creation, processing, management, storage, retrieval, transfer and communication of digital information using computer based systems. The revolution in how we deal with information is at the heart of the knowledge based society. The continuing growth of electronic and computer based control and communication systems are key factors, and education has a crucial role to play in helping young people prepare for this increasingly technological society.
This role has developed rapidly, to the point where ICT is now being used to support teaching and learning in almost every aspect of the contemporary school curriculum. Design and technology is no exception, indeed OFSTED findings point to design and technology as the most successful curriculum area in applying ICT to teaching and learning experiences.
"Overall, ICT is more widely and better used in design and technology than in other subjects"
