This section of the website has been created to showcase examples of interesting design and technology practice. The examples collected here will illustrate how schools are interpreting the new programmes of study and developing pupil activity in their school. Some of the examples included are work that was completed before September 2008 so was not planned in response to the new requirements. However it is included to demonstrate interesting work taking place in school that relates directly to the programmes of study that came into effect from September.
The D&T Association is always interested to hear about work going on in schools and if you have examples of curriculum planning, pupil activity or resources arising from working with the new curriculum that you would be happy to share, please contact Andy Mitchell at

The Power point below illustrates how creative approaches to designing and the use of both external resources including local experts can extend and enhance opportunities for designing and making. Associated planning materials illustrate how the projects were organised, the coverage of the programme of study and other key features of the work are also provided.

Work from Cornwall
Here you will find three examples of innovative work from Cornish schools that have been completed in conjunction with the Design and Making Centre (DMC) Cornwall.
All case studies are subject specific and downloadable as a zip archive. Inside each archive there is a key objectives sheet, a planning grid and an object specific assessment table.
