Teach Food Technology and Licence to Cook 2008-11 were national programmes designed to address the standards, skills and knowledge that support food education, ensuring that teachers and related professionals are confident in their subject knowledge and skills, and that schools are equipped to deliver a sustainable programme.
Licence to Cook is an entitlement for all students in maintained secondary schools in England. It provides a programme to enable students to learn to cook and understand the principles of diet and nutrition, health and safety and wise food shopping.
