Being a D&T teacher is like playing a game of monopoly’, would you agree? Engaging ideas for inspiring creativity in KS3 and KS4

One of the main focuses of the new GCSE specifications and current D&T NC revolve around encouraging students to follow an iterative design process.  To embrace this concept, students need to be confident and independent in their creative designing skills. 

This session will look at practical ideas to ‘turbo charge’ teaching and learning to provide students with the building blocks to construct their own meaning to a variety of design scenarios. The session will have a ‘product design/graphic/RM’ KS3/4 focus but could also be applied to other areas.

Learning outcomes

  • Practical and thought provoking ideas to encourage creative thinking in an iterative design process.
  • Developing learning habits for outstanding D&T teaching and learning.
  • Identifying areas in your own school’s curriculum for further development.
