Autonomous Learning - A practical approach to flipping D&T with the use of technology
During this session attendees will be shown how flipped learning can have a considerable, positive impact on the outcomes of a Design & Technology department which has implemented the concept of flipped learning over the past few years. The session will expose attendees to how practical, CAD and theoretical tasks can be effectively flipped to improve learning. Leading on from this, attendees will have the opportunity to create and build resources making use of Microsoft Sway and Power Point as a primary piece of software for flipping the classroom. During the session you will experiment with using enhanced Microsoft features, including how to produce home made video tutorials - quickly and easily!, All of which are open source resources. The session will then lead onto using Microsoft Forms to assess students progress, which can then be marked and analysed electronically.
Be able to identify possible areas of flipping the classroom within D&T, in particular in relation to practical, CAD and design skills. Realise how technology can be used to flip the classroom and create a range of resources during the session that can be used by attendees.
An introduction to the use of Microsoft Sway, Forms and enhanced PowerPoint features to flip the learning environment.
