Textile product innovation, performance and analysis
This workshop will introduce the need and importance of the assessment of product performance explaining why textile testing is undertaken and the role it plays within the design, development and manufacture of new and innovative textile products. The session will be interactive and hands-on incorporating a seminar and practical.
Delegates will be introduced to a range of different textile materials and will get chance to undertake routine textile tests within the laboratory environment in order to gain an overview of the breath of testing which is undertaken on fabrics and garments.
Presented by Dr Angela Davies
Dr Angela Davies is a senior lecturer in textile technology/garment technology, with a BSc (Hons) in Clothing Design and Production and a PhD in technical textiles. Her PhD focused on the development of reusable incontinence products for residential and hospital use, which provides her with a wealth of expertise in the development and testing of medical textiles, requiring high temperature laundering for infection control.
