University of Hertfordshire
Create your own story at the University of Hertfordshire’s School of Creative Arts!
University of Hertfordshire’s School of Creative Arts thrives through an effective community of students and tutors working together with an extensive network of industry contacts and graduates. Within the School, we are always striving to create valuable opportunities for our students to grow as professionals and build industry connections.
Live projects, based on industry-led professional briefs, are fundamental to the success and delivery of all our design courses. Allowing our students to be placed in the real world of work, testing their skills and challenging the way they think. Our Product & Industrial Design programme collaborates with industry partners such as Monitor Audio, Lumino Lighting and Dixons Carphone, while students on our Model Design programme have had commissions from Foster+Partners and Jamie Anderson, son of famed producer Gerry Anderson.
Our 3D workshops house a variety of traditional making facilities with integrated technologies, including 3D printers, laser cutters and 3D scanners. All our industry-standard equipment is manned by expert technicians who are on hand to advise students on correct usage, innovative techniques and emerging technologies.
Hertfordshire is home to the bulk of the UK’s media production, with world-famous studios such as, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and Elstree Studios just 45 minutes from our campus. In recent years, our Model Design students have worked on major blockbuster movies including the Star Wars and Marvel franchises.
Design and Technology (D&T) is the inspiring, rigorous and practical subject which prepares all young people to live and work in the designed and made world.
