Bringing User-Centred Design to the Classroom – The Big Life Fix
Published 12th December 2018
What is the Big Life Fix and why is it so important for design and technology lessons?
Commissioned by the BBC, it was two series of programmes where ‘fixers’ take on a challenge to improve someone’s life through design. It embodied the ethos of the new design and technology specifications and can be used to great effect in the classroom to show students the iterative process required to achieve good design, highlighting the range of prototypes that might be needed and the interaction with the end user throughout.
