Can you take the Challenge?

Published 4th May 2016

The Manufacturing Technology Association (MTA) runs an annual Technology, Design and Innovation (TDI) Challenge for students aged 14-19 years.

The competition helps teachers and lecturers to showcase the great work of their D&T and Engineering students.  It is a fantastic way to celebrate the creativity and innovation taking place inside the curriculum.

In turn, the competition helps our industry to better understand the challenges that education is facing and how we might be able to assist through collaboration.

The competition is split into two categories: 14-16 years and 17-19 years.  Twelve finalists (six per category) are selected by a panel of judges to attend the TDI Challenge Final, hosted at Yamazaki Mazak's European Technology Centre in Worcester on Wednesday 6 July 2016.

The chosen finalists display their portfolio of work in Mazak's atrium, and give a brief presentation to the judging panel who will decide the overall prize winners. The winner of each category wins an iPad or tablet, and all finalists will receive a guided tour of Mazak’s state-of-the-art factory and European Technology Centre, a presentation certificate and goodie bag.

The MTA also offers schools that reach the finals press-release templates and photographs from the day to assist in their own local profile-raising.

All students or teachers need to do is simply download an application form via date Friday 13 May 2016.
