D&T Technology Association Summer School Cancelled

Published 17th June 2019

It is with much regret that due to the low number of confirmed bookings to this point, we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel the D&T Summer School at De Montfort University in Leicester scheduled for July 4th and 5th this year.

We completely understand the difficulties currently being faced by teachers and schools which are making it difficult for teachers to commit to subject focused CPD training. The issues arise from a number of factors including a lack of dedicated CPD funding, teachers not wanting to take time out from the classroom as they focus on the recently released NEA, and teachers who are quite frankly fatigued having managed the first cohort through the requirements of the new GCSE.

We know that design & technology teachers are keen to undertake subject based CPD but are frequently unable to gain release from school. With delegate numbers low and less than three weeks to go until the event, we can simply not guarantee a viable and vibrant two-day event, so in order not to incur costs and further inconvenience exhibitors and trainers, we have had to make this regretful decision.

We cannot pretend that we are not disappointed, in these difficult times it is more important than ever for teachers to network and look after their own professional development, but we will regroup, take a step back and consider if there is a need to change the format of the event.

We will contact you all later this year with proposals for alternative events that may be closer aligned to the current educational climate and the needs of teachers in schools today. We are open to any thoughts and suggestions that you may have, so please do either email us on events@data.org.uk or call on 01789 470007.

Please do take a look at our Training and Events page for all of our primary and secondary CPD courses.

If you or your school have already paid for this event, then you will be refunded shortly.
