Enriching Britain: Culture, Creativity and Growth- The 2015 Report of the Warwick Commission on the Future of Cultural Value
Published 3rd December 2015
The Warwick Commission's report on the future of cultural value was launched on 17th February and is available to download in various formats.
Section 4 addresses Education and Skills Development and a need to integrate the ‘Arts’ into the Government’s STEM priorities – a STEAM+ curriculum. It also highlights the decline in arts (including D&T) GCSE entries (as a result of Ebacc) and the resulting decrease in the number iof teachers. The report makes 7 recommendations for Government to address, including, “An arts or media subject must be included in the English Baccalaureate, improving the visibility of the arts and increasing incentives for young people to combine science and arts subjects at Key Stage 4.” The D&T Association strongly supports this recommendation.
