Implementing the English Baccalaureate – Open Consultation

Published 7th December 2015

DfE are consulting on 'Implementing the English Baccalaureate' until 29th January 2016. They would like views on

  • “what factors schools should consider when deciding that a pupil shouldn’t take all the GCSE subjects for the English Baccalaureate (EBacc)
  • proposed changes to the range of data published about school performance
  • the challenges of implementing the EBacc, including teacher recruitment
  • the impact of these proposals on pupils with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010”

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, there are no questions in the consultation document relating to the impact of the Ebacc on other subjects. However, the section on Implementation (Questions 4-8) does provide an opportunity to raise these issues. You can, of course include any additional information/comments/views about the Ebacc and its impact on D&T. The Association will be responding and we will publish our response on the website in due course. We would encourage all D&T departments to do the same.  Read more
