Pitching to Dragons Den Sky & Kia - Krikey Bikey

Published 3rd December 2015

Kia & Sky Ballantyne who featured in the D&T Summer 2015 issue of Designing with their invention of Crikey Bikey pitched their idea to the BBC's Dragons Den on 6th September 2015.  Sky came up with the idea as part of a holiday homework project to invent something at Haberdashers Monmouth School for Girls after watching a man helping a boy learn to ride his bike.   Having already secured some big orders from Evans Cycles in its 39 stores and Go Outdoors.

The girls surprised the judges by pitching alone to a room of millionaire entrepreneurs, with their mum and family friend on hand for any questions, but in all honesty the girls held their own to some tough and challenging questions from the Dragons.

Whilst they did not manage to secure investment from the Dragons, Peter Jones commented after their pitch "If that is the future of our country, it makes me proud to be British". With Touker Suleyman offering the girls the opportunity for their product to have a review featured on his website Bike Soup which you can read here.

Take a look at their great invention, Crikey Bikey here.
