D&T Heroes social campaign

Published 13th July 2016

Launch on Thursday 14th July

The Design & Technology Association invite you to join our campaign to promote and celebrate the value of design in our everyday lives and its impact on industry and society.

The campaign is simple: it invites anyone to upload a picture of their favourite person, product or object – from industrial design to architecture, engineering to creative technologists – to Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, using the #DandTHeroes hashtag.

Support D&T Heroes by promoting the campaign on your organisation’s website and social channels, and by submitting and sharing your own hero. Don't forget to include the #DandTHeroes hashtag, which identifies the content as part of the campaign.

Below you will find suggested text to show your support for the campaign, please don’t forget to add your organisation’s Twitter handle or name next to @DTassoc.

The ‪@DTassoc celebrate brilliant Design & Technology in a special new campaign. Please share who or what inspires you, using ‪#DandTHeroes

The aim is to engage people in the design of the world around them, so we have begun to populate these channels with examples to inspire and motivate – but we want to reach as many people as we can, so please share with family and friends.

The D&T Association will be launching the campaign in schools in September, to use as a dynamic teaching resource that supports the D&T curriculum, engages pupils across the key stages, and inspires them to consider the role and relevance of design and technology in daily life.

At the end of the campaign, the D&T Association will collate the top British and international D&T Heroes, and invite prominent design practitioners, thinkers and spokespersons to comment on the submissions. This content will then be printed in a book, signed by the D&T Association and campaign partners, and delivered to the Department for Education and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills as a powerful statement about the importance and relevance of design and technology in education, in industry and in society.
