The importance of ‘Thinking with your hands’

Published 12th May 2016

The Design and Technology Association was very pleased to attend an afternoon workshop and debate, 'Thinking with your Hands,' on Saturday April 9th 2016, organised by the Art Workers Guild. The debate provided an opportunity to raise the issue of the decline of creative and technical subjects in secondary schools and to consider the implications of this for a wide range of professions.

During the wide-ranging debate,  Marta Ajmar from the V&A Research department asked "How can we magnify this discussion?", and the Art Workers Guild have now arranged a follow-up session in June to discuss future activity. We will keep you informed of the outcomes but in the meantime please watch a 2 minute video summary of the initial workshop
