Eportfolios in Primary D&T
First published 2007
In this context an eportfolio is nota presentation such as a record of achievement, but an electronic teaching resource using presentation software for the teacher. It can be used to present classroom activities to support designing and making and as an electronic workbook for the pupil. The electronic resource uses presentation software (in this case PowerPoint) to support D&T effectively by, for example, recording narration, adding animated pictures, photographs and video clips, text boxes, choice buttons and option buttons. Software such as ‘Hyperstudio’ could also be utilised to develop multimedia teaching resources.
The resource consists of examples and guides looking at multimedia presentations, including a introduction to ICT in multimedia, examples of slides based around the theme of ‘Puppets’, and a template guide showing what might be included in each. There is also a helpsheet guide to including narration and actions in PowerPoint and a guide to effective use of presentation software and how to make it a valuable aid to support D&T.
