This innovative scheme of work for Primary is designed to help all primary schools in England successfully implement the National Curriculum from September 2014. Built on universal principles of effective teaching and learning in D&T, it will also apply across other areas of the UK.
This scheme of work has been developed by the D&T Association’s Primary Working Group in association with D&T primary consultants. It comprises fifteen A3 size project planners that give scope for teachers to use their creativity and professional judgment, whilst ensuring the quality, integrity and rigour of children’s learning. Each planner is accompanied by useful sketches and diagrams in a helpsheet format to support teachers delivering the project in the classroom. Also included are suggestions on class organisation, teaching tips and techniques, links to resources and a glossary of technical terminology related to the project. A 16 page guidance booklet shows how to use the planners to full effect and the context in which they should be used.
The 15 project planners are also included on an accompanying CD in Word and pdf formats.
An additional six planners for KS2 have now been developed. Two can be taught as alternatives to existing planners and the other four should be read alongside Side 2 of the equivalent planners in original scheme of work.
The two Electrical Systems planners focus on the Crumble microcontroller.
