This resource highlights career opportunities in the food industry, explores a typical food product development pathway and enables students to carry out a food technology project in Year 9 as preparation for GCSE option choices and a future potential career.
The resource includes a PowerPoint presentation covering a number of questions students are likely to need answers to, such as What is food science and food technology? What does a food scientist do? and What qualifications do I need study food science or technology? and the myths surrounding food science.
For project guidance there are pupil sheets to prompt thinking about product analysis and design decisions in food production, and teacher notes which include links to relevant case studies courses and resource banks.
