Course Outline:

Being an effective leader in D&T is very demanding. Schools depend on high quality middle managers and provide generic support to enable them to function. But good D&T leadership requires a sophisticated understanding of this role in the D&T specialist context. During the day, delegates will address a variety of key issues and how to meet the demands associated particularly with the subject. It will make specific reference to the D&T Association’s newly revised Subject Leaders Handbook, (to be published Sept. 2016 and included in the cost of the course). Both the course leaders have considerable experience gained working in a variety of the roles including D&T subject leadership.

The course was developed by Andy Mitchell. For 10 years, he led the D&T Association’s Post Graduate Certificate in Managing design and technology at Sheffield Hallam University.
