This 1-day course explores the freedom and opportunities open to students when working from contexts within Design and Technology. This can be challenging for teachers, so it is an opportunity to learn more about key strategies for developing the skill set required by students in KS3 before embarking on their live contextual challenge in the June of year 10.

Delegates will also engage in activities designed to support their own delivery methods in the classroom.
These courses are being run by practicing teachers, most of whom are SLEs, who have been instrumental in developing the content. They will each bring their own unique insight as to how this part of the GCSE can be delivered.
Live contextual challenges will not be discussed on this course in line with Awarding Organisations regulations.
These courses are scheduled to be run by the teacher experts who have developed them. They are relevant to all those either currently teaching or intending to teach the new single title GCSE.
Please could you bring with you a copy of the Awarding Organisation’s GCSE Design and Technology specification that you are planning to work with. This can either be in printed or electronic format.
