Who is this course for?
The course is aimed at everyone who teaches and supports secondary D&T GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, who lead cookery clubs or food activities in schools. This includes: teachers, technicians, teaching assistants/higher level teaching assistants, trainee teachers, and special needs support staff, this is also suitable as a refresher as the course has been updated to reflect the requirement for allergen management.
What will the course cover?
Training and assessment for Level 2 Foundation Food Safety certificate in association with CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) and the design and technology extension level SFHS accreditation level for teaching and supporting food teaching in schools. The course incorporates both theoretical application of the knowledge required to work in food rooms safely with specialist equipment and practical application and experience in using hand held electrical equipment safely. We explore techniques and ideas around the safe practices that should be part of everyday working for safety.

Training and accreditation for D&T Association National Health and Safety Scheme. Accreditation for specialist food technology – compatible with Health and Safety for Design and Technology in Educational and Similar Establishments BS 4163: 2014.
