Self-Review Framework – effectively reviewing design and technology in your school

The Self-Review Framework (SRF), freely available as a membership benefit for primary school and secondary departmental members, is a tool designed to help you determine the quality and effectiveness of all aspects of Design and Technology provision in your school.

The SRF tool enables schools to compare and assess their current practice against a comprehensive set of quality standards. The SRF provides clear descriptors and examples of standards that constitute quality D&T and, in addition, provides examples of effective practice and a range of resources that schools can access to aid their development and improvement.

Completing the SRF will enable you to:

  • thoroughly evaluate your current provision
  • ensure you fully address the National Curriculum programmes of study for D&T and EYFS Framework (for primary)
  • develop schemes of work that are focused on learning and made up of a range of appropriate D&T activities
  • ensure that the contribution D&T makes to a broad and balanced curriculum is recognised within your school and externally by, for example, Ofsted.
