Secondary Department Partnership

£195 per annum

£30 reduction for new and renewing members

Offer extended until 31 December! - Secondary Department Partnership

Secondary Department Partnership, new name for secondary departmental membership. But it just got so much better!

The challenges faced by D&T departments nationally have been immense over the course of the last eighteen months with almost every teacher experiencing a significantly increased workload as they manage the demands imposed by COVID-19 alongside teacher assessments, NEA, and ongoing curriculum development; all this within the context of recruitment to our subject failing to match demand creating an acute shortage of subject trained teachers and leaders.

To address some of these issues we have reviewed and realigned our membership offer.

For a limited period, as a trial, we are reducing the cost of purchasing our Secondary Department Partnership (previously secondary departmental membership). Also our current departmental members can purchase an additional 12-months of membership for only £195.00. This can be purchased within the window 1st September to 31st December 2021 and can be added to any existing membership term.

Listening to members needs we have produced a partnership package that includes all the original member benefits and a whole lot more:

  • Access to Teacher in Residence (TiR) programme - TiR aims to equip teachers with a deeper understanding of modern industry practice, together with a greater understanding of the knowledge, skills and character sets required by industry. Through engagement with this programme your school will gain a clear understanding of potential career pathways for students and a better understanding of the needs of local companies to pass on to your students.
  • Access to a wide range of teaching and subject management resources free with membership (with more being produced all the time. Produced by teachers for teachers)
  • Access to reduced price face to face and online subject specific training
  • Reduced price access to our e-Learning
    modules.
These interactive courses have been designed by teachers working with Association staff to meet some of the key development areas identified within our subject. Each course is fully accredited through a digital badge and certificate demonstrating your commitment to ongoing subject CPD.
  • Access to a range of resources designed and produced to help you to demonstrate the value of D&T to young people nationally and what ingredients are required to ensure your SMT understands and supports the efforts (and budget) required to deliver a modern, relevant, innovative, and inspiring D&T curriculum.
  • And finally - A series of 'How to Guides' for teachers supporting and championing D&T in their schools and departments
    • How to ... show the value of design and technology on the secondary curriculum

    • How ... D&T uses and applies learning gained elsewhere on the curriculum and what a high-quality How ... D&T education offers back to other curriculum areas

    • How ... D&T provides context to prepare and engage the workforce of the future

    • PowerPoint Slide deck to ‘sell’ the subject through assemblies

    • How to … sell D&T to the whole school

    • How to … sell the value of the subject to students (option day and wider) and how to win over parents.

    • How to … encourage SMT to provide access to subject based CPD

    • How to … encourage SMT to carry out required H&S training and remain compliant

Our main objective as your membership organisation, is to ensure the unique nature of D&T is maintained and valued.

Our secondary department partnership membership is generally paid for by the school and allows multiple members of your department access to member benefits. Some schools pay for it with their Pupil Premium fund. D&T is a compulsory subject for all Local Authority Schools in England teaching the National Curriculum
