SCITT

Our Design and Technology focused School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme is underway and concludes on the 3rd of July, 2023.  Trainees at The Pioneers Partnership gain QTS on completion of the one-year school-centred programme. Despite the focus being on secondary education, trainees will be looking at primary and post-16 education to give them a holistic view of the D&T landscape.

The trainees were enthusiastic and eager to start their journey as teachers of Design and Technology. Course leader and trainer Paul Woodward comments, "The first face-to-face session was an opportunity to get to know each other and for me to find out more about their backgrounds, skillset, goals and ambitions. We talked through the course content and discussed their thoughts from the previous E-learning sessions; one of which was about the context of D&T in the curriculum.

They were honest about their areas of strength and their weaknesses and with such an honest and professional attitude, we can tailor make aspects of the course to suit their needs as it develops. It was refreshing to be in the company of bright young people who have a very forward-thinking and positive attitude to the subject. I was very interested to hear their opinions of the subject, how it is perceived, and how they believe it can be taught effectively. Even from this first session, I suspect we have some great teachers in the making here with a bright future ahead of them."

We are excited to see how things progress.
