Students are natural scientists and engineers.  They love to question, tinker, experiment and play. Competitive robotics programmes foster these skills and capitalise on the motivational effects of the competition environment as well as being a great way to expose students to valuable soft skills like communication, collaboration and time-management in a fun and authentic way.

The REC Foundation and VEX Robotics offer competition programmes for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges which encourage students to take STEM subject theory and apply it to a real-world problem and set of rules to solve an engineering challenge that is presented in the form of a game.

  • Gain an understanding of how competitive robotics can benefit students and support development in STEM subjects
  • Overview of the VEX Robotics Competition Programmes:
VEX GO Competition (Classroom competition for KS2)
VEX IQ Robotics Competition (inter-school competition for KS2 and KS3)
VEX Robotics Competition (inter-school competition for KS3, KS4 and KS5)
  • Competition timelines - key dates and deadlines for participation
