Join us for this FREE webinar to find out about our Inspired by Industry KS3 Contexts and how to get started with this suite of free learning materials in the Design and Technology classroom.

‘Inspired by Industry’ is a set of design contexts to address the ever-changing needs of the Design and Technology curriculum. Supporting students with an approach familiar at Key Stage 4, students have a level of autonomy, tackling a real-world design context provided by an industry partner of the Design and Technology Association. The contexts are authentic to the companies providing them with opportunities for teachers to use these with students. The contexts are editable and are a starting point for you to focus your teaching of Design and Technology.

In this session, we will investigate how these contexts could be introduced into your curriculum and the different approaches you can take to making use of them to enhance your teaching and give students greater experience of working with design contexts.

This will include:

  • Breaking down the contexts for different age groups
  • Choosing the context to suit the focus of the learning
  • Adapting the context to suit your needs
  • Using the contexts to deliver Focused Tasks (FT’S) and Investigate and Evaluate Activities (IEA’s)
  • Using the Supporting and Curriculum Units to enhance the learning
  • How to design these into an effective KS3 curriculum.
