Full day, face to face course in Birmingham

This full day face to face course will enable you to get to grips with and improve your confidence in teaching and supporting others in Computer Aided Design CAD and Computer Control. Learn how to use 2D and 3D CAD software, understand how computer outputs (CAM) can be used to add greater depth and challenge. Get hands-on with microcontrollers used in the primary curriculum, including ‘Crumble’ and ‘Micro:bit’ and learn to program and implement into practical outcomes suitable for inspiring classroom challenges.  

Course objectives:

  • To incorporate CAD and Computer Control into the curriculum KS1 and KS2 that have clear intent and purpose
  • Develop your knowledge and skills with 2D, 3D CAD software and microcontrollers
  • Gain confidence to teach and support CAD and Computer Control

By participating in this course, you will learn:

  • How to use 2D, 3D CAD programs and outputs and how to program Crumble and Micro:bit microcontrollers
  • How to program and implement into practical outcomes suitable for inspiring classroom challenges
  • Improved confidence in often-overlooked areas of the primary D&T curriculum

Meet your Trainer

Paul Woodward – Curriculum Consultant

Paul has been teaching D&T for almost 30 years with most of those years as a Head of Creative Arts Faculties or as Head of D&T. Following a degree in 3D design, Paul initially trained for the Post 16 sector, so he has extensive experience of teaching A Level D&T, but he has taught the subject from KS2 onwards in a wide variety of schools ranging from Pupil Referral Units to Prestigious International Boarding schools. Paul’s MA is in Education specialising in Professional Development in Teaching and Learning which led to him working as a consultant, course designer and presenter for D&TA alongside his industry and teaching roles…
